In the case of the Philippines, how much do you think are we involved in the modern world – system? What do you think are the advantages and disadvantages of being part of such.
ANSWER:
Technology has arrived in the Philippines, but it has not yet been fully implemented. Although government systems have adopted digital and online systems, procedures continue to be based on analog systems. The Internal Revenue Service, for example, is already available online in every state. In theory, any taxpayer can alter information from anywhere. To amend or update personal information, however, a person must go to the tax district where they were last registered to make the adjustments. In my experience, I’ve had to travel to Metro Manila just to transfer from one district to another, when they could have simply made it to the district I was transferring to. They are, however, continuing to carry out procedures as though the agency were still operational.
2. How can we “upgraded” our economy given the strength of the global economy, especially the giant economy like the united state and Japan.
ANSWER:
In the Philippines, “upgrading” our economy to that of major economies like the United States and Japan seems highly promising, but it is far easier said than done. Unless there are less corrupt officials, our morality and discipline improve, and we don’t completely love our products, we will never be able to compete with first-class countries. The Philippines is expected to achieve middle-class status by 2040, but due to the pandemic, economic activity has slowed and the country is unlikely to reach that goal. For the time being, we have nothing to do to become first-class countries, but who knows, maybe a president like Ferdinand Marcos (if he is not a dictator) will change that.
